On the G+, we have a preview of the cryptic verses!!! What is this? I imagine that many thinks will be said the GoG, but some clues?

And will the GoG have all the pages of the Cryptic Verses?

If you go to the Art section on G+ and scroll down you’ll find Plate 36. From the comments, Jeff noted that the ‘full’ series had 42 plates, and that ~6 would be included in GoG. Other comments on that plate may give you further references.

“The Cryptic Verses of the Yellow Calendar is a series of 42 surreal drawings, each accompanied by an equally obscure poetic couplet.”

It’s in a chapter in the GtG that lays out hints about Hero Wars events through in-game documents like prophecies and historical fragments, like in King of Sartar. (The geographic chapters also have “The Hero Wars Begin” boxes that describe individual events more prosaically, like in Genertela, Crucible of the Hero Wars.) There are a few paragraphs on the background of the verses, and 11 short paragraphs that describe plates 30-40. The paragraphs are prose commentary rather than the obscure poetic couplets.

I fear my skill at composing enigmatic couplets was not up to the task. So I took a page out of the books of Borges and Eco, and just described the contents of fictional books.

Comes the lustrous solar son once pent in hell,
Iniquitous umbral emperor he must quell.

In all directions four hands of wickedness bestow,
From waxing rock-strewn isle emerging below.
