| *Page 2: Credits |
The credit for Humakt should read as follows: "Humakt by Roderick Robertson
and Greg Stafford, based on or derived from material by Greg Stafford,
Steve Perrin, Sandy Petersen, David Hall, and Jon Quaife." |
| *Page 2: Credits |
The credit for Yinkin should read as follows: "Yinkin by David Gordon and
Greg Stafford. Some ideas based on material by David Gordon and David Hall." |

The Cult of Eurmal was written by Greg Stafford. |
| Page 12: (Disciple) Benefits |
This section should not be interpreted to mean that
initiates or devotees can use feats in ways that are outside
the purview of the god. Rather, disciples are even more
restricted than are devotees in having to follow the known,
established paths of their god. A devotee might be able to
convince a narrator to allow a new use of a feat (see the
story of Javern Spithorn
and the Sunset Leap), but a disciple generally has no such
options. Thus, narrators should be more critical of feat usage
for disciples than they are for other worshippers. |
| Page 13: Wind Lord Requirements |
The requirement that a candidate have to have completed a
"complete Lightbringer's Quest" is incorrect, and should be
ignored. |
| Pages 20-25 |
Thanks to Nick Brooke for pointing out that the runes used
to represent the phases of the Moon are incorrect on all six
calendars. The runes listed for each crescent moon and half moon
should be reversed. Thus, the crescent on the Crescent Go rune
should be on the left side of the rune, not the right, and
similarly for the Full Half Moon. The Crescent Come and Empty
Half Moons have the lighter crescent or half on the right, not
the left. |
| Page 26: Rules for Divine Companions |
Use of the word "follower" is confusing, especially in the
second paragraph. The intent is that the exact relationship and
nature of the divine companion should be determined by the
narrator and player (which will possibly determine most or all
of the divine companion's ability ratings as well). Some divine
companions are very much followers of their disciple, but some
are very much independent entities, who will sometimes do what
they want instead of what the hero might want. Regardless of
these differences, however, when a divine companion is present
with its hero it can always act as a follower in a contest by
providing AP, etc. However, it might act as an ally in terms of
actual ability ratings and improvement. See HeroQuest
p.121 for updated inforation. |
| Page 50: The Long Night |
First paragraph, second sentence, should read in part: "He
becomes a thane on Lightbringer Day, is elected chieftain ... ."
Note that the apparent contradiction between this revised entry (and
the cult in general) and the description of Together Day in
Thunder Rebels (page 117) is simply a function of the
non-linear nature of mythology. |
| Page 68: Bonded Magic |
Third paragraph, first sentence: "those listed below"
should read "those described under Presecribed Roles." |
| Page 111: Secret Way Day |
Secret Way Day is stated to be one of the 28 Holy Days of the Heortlings. But it is part of the Sacred Time, whose
14 days are NOT part of the 28 days. So, Secret Way Day is one of the Sacred Fourteen Days, not one of the 28 Holy Days. |
| Page 160: Hiia Swordsman |
The write-up states that, "The Grazers forbid Hiia worship
amongst the vendref." This contradicts information in Hero
Wars itself, which states that the Feathered Horse Queen
has a bodyguard of fanatical Hiia-worshipping vendref. When a
vendref is selected to become a bodyguard of the Feathered Horse
Queen, then and only then are they permitted to become an initiate
or devotee of Hiia Swordsman. |
| Page 174: Subcults of Vinga |
Second line: should read "...join any subcult of
Orlanth...." Worshippers of Vinga may not join other aspects
of Orlanth. Worshippers of Vinga that join a subcult of
Orlanth gain only the subcult affinity; they do not gain the
affinities of the aspect. |

The rune at the top of the right hand column is
incorrect. The correct rune is . |
| Page 214-215 |
The rune next to "Engizi the Skyriver Titan" at the top
of page 214 and next to the Engizi affinity on page 215
is incorrect. The correct rune in both cases is . |

The Cult of
Maran
The Cult of Maran was originally planned for inclusion in
Storm Tribe, but was cut at the last moment due to
lack of space. Issaries, Inc. is proud to announce that Mark
Galeotti and Simon Bray have published it in Unspoken Word
#1, a new Gloranthan fanzine.
However, there were some technical difficulties in the
preparation of that magazine, which caused some errors to appear
in the write-up. File corruptions forced the printers to reformat
the cult from plain text. They did a heroic job, but it is perhaps
a little too much to expect them to know the difference between
various runes and rune fonts, so some of the runes that should
have been in the Core Runes font ended up rendered in the Ernalda
font. Other clarifications and corrections are minor.
| Page 61: Maran poetry |
The four lines of excellent poetry describing Maran are
by Janet Anderson, who created similar pieces of poetry in
Storm Tribe for several deities. |
| Page 64: Membership Requirements |
The sentence that states that male worshippers must
become eunuchs is referring to initiates, not communal
worshippers. |
| Page 65: Erantha Gor |
Second column: the rune next to the Axe Combat affinity
should be the Death rune, not the Kero Fin rune. |
| Page 65: Erantha Gor |
Second column: the rune next to the Earthmaking affinity
should be the Earth rune, not the Maran rune. |
| Page 65: The Three Warriors |
This text should have been boxed. |
| Page 65: Gatara Tor |
The header should have the Gatara Tor rune, not the
Erantha Gor rune. The Gatara Tor rune is identical to the
Maran rune, except that the line between the dark and light
halves goes from upper right to lower left, making it a
mirror image of the primary Maran rune. |
| Page 65: Maran Devor |
Third column: the rune next to the Mace Combat affinity
should be the Death rune, not the Kero Fin rune. |
| Page 65: Maran Devor |
Third column: the rune next to the Earthmaking affinity
should be the Earth rune, not the Maran rune. |
| Page 66: Maran Gor |
Shake Earth ritual: the text states that "Initiates may
not support the ritual with magical power." This means that
the devotees who enact the ritual gain no bonuses if
supported by initiates (or communal worshippers, for that
matter). Thus, the normal community support rules from
Hero Wars do not aid the use of this secret.
Devotees who do not know the secret, who are from another
subcult, or who choose not to perform the ritual as
participants, can provide such support. |
