  • Anything that is slanderous, libelous, pornographic, or otherwise defaming to the reputation of the trademark. The presence of anything slanderous, libelous, pornographic or otherwise defaming to the reputation of the trademark is strictly prohibited. No license will be issued for such sites, and any and all references to Issaries, Glorantha or anything related to the trademark must be removed immediately.
  • Mirrored third party material (see "Article Gathering Prohibited").

IF YOU DO then you need remove the material from your website OR to contact us for a formal license, go to How to Apply for a Formal Licence to start.

IF YOU DO NOT have any of the material listed above on your website, then it qualifies for an Informal License. An informal license is automatically granted when you do the following:

  • Put the "Concept Use" and "Trademark" statements on your website. You can find them here. They may be on your front Page, on each page, or on a separate page available through a clearly-marked link on your front page. If you have a list or discussion site, then this page must be on the sign-up or similar appropriate page.
  • Link your site back to Issaries' own site, either with a text link, a click-through link on one of the logo images, or a click-through link on any authorized banner advertisement (see below).
  • Register with Issaries, Inc. (emailing us. This email must include the URL of the front or main page for the site and an explicit acknowledgement of all requirements of the Fan Material Policy and the Policy for Online Fan Sources. Unless the email "opts out", all approved sites will be linked from the Issaries, Inc. Link.

If the web site meets all requirements of the Fan Material Policy and the above items, it is eligible for an informal license.

Personal web sites that generate income in incidental ways (such as by placement of banner ads or advertisements, either by the site owner or the web host), or by sale of the site owner's personal possessions (such as used game books) do not count as sites that generate income as discussed in the Fan Material Policy. (If you are uncertain whether or not your site is considered to generate income, contact us for guidance.)

If a web site does not meet all of these requirements, it requires a formal license or correction of the violations to bring it into compliance. Contact us, with the URL and a list of potential discrepencies, to discuss a formal license or to request guidance in bringing the site into compliance.

Distinct portions of web sites unconnected in any way with Issaries, Inc.'s trademarks, logos, or intellectual property is exempt from these requirements except that Issaries, Inc. retains the right to deny an informal license to a web site with portions that, when taken in association with the covered portions, may cause damage to the reputation of Issaries, Inc.'s marks. Translation of Fan and Proprietary Material

There are two kinds of material on the Issaries, Inc. web site: Official Material and Fan Material.

Official Material

Issaries, Inc. does not allow web publishing of any translation of official material by fans, since we reserve that right for the appropriate formal licensee for that language. If there is no licensee for a desired language, please contact us to discuss the option (including granting of a temporary license). Current licensees are:

  • Spanish: Edge Entertainment
  • Japanese: Atelier Third.
  • French, German: The French and German licenses were held by Multisim. Following Multisim's bankruptcy, the license has ended. Issaries, Inc. actively seeks a professional publisher to license translations of HeroQuest into these (and other) languages.

Fan Material

Each fan submission is copyright by the fan who wrote and submitted it. As such, you must contact each fan directly for permission to translate their article and must obtain permission from Issaries, Inc. to post the translation. We prefer that any such translation be posted on our web site only.
