How to Apply for an Informal Licence

To apply for an informal licence for your web site:

  1. Go to the web site checklist and see if your website meets ALL of the requirements. If so, you qualify for an Informal Licence. If not, you will need a formal licence (go to Invitation to Web Publishers).

If the only reason your site does not comply is because it contains material by third parties who have not given you explicit permission to include their material and/or have not agreed to the "concept use" statement, you may operate under an informal license while you bring third party material into compliance (see #4, below).

  2. Put these two statements on your web site's front page OR on a specific Legalese page to which the front page refers/links.

    Trademark Statement

"Glorantha, Glorantha Trading Association, Sartar Rising, Imperial Lunar Handbook, Lords of the West, and Odyssey of Terror are the trademarks of Issaries, Inc., and are used under license. HeroQuest, Hero Wars, RuneQuest, and Issaries are the registered trademarks of Issaries, Inc., and are used under license."

(Note that the above trademark statement includes terms that you might not be using on your website. You are free to remove such unused terms, or include the entire statement for convenience.)

    "Concept Use" Statement

"Glorantha is the creation of Greg Stafford. Greg Stafford and Issaries, Inc., reserve the right to use any Gloranthan names, places, and concepts, from any Original Material, in any future Gloranthan development or publications, without further credit or payment."

  3. Send an email to us stating you have done the above, and including your URL. We will enter your site on the links of the official Issaries web site. We anticipate you will comply, and we will follow up to check.

  4. If necessary, complete the compliance process by contacting the contributors to your site and getting their agreement to the above terms of use, including specific agreement to the "concept use" statement. This process must be completed by October 1, 2005. If you cannot reach a contributor, or they do not agree to the terms, you must remove their contributions from your web site.

Be sure to check with all the contributors to your site to make sure they understand, and agree to, the Concept Use. See the FAQ for more information about Concept Use.
