+1 to what the last two people said too.

And why Sun Country again? The first book was great but playing in such a repressive place was painful even back then and Borderlands, ye gods, every single person I know has run that or played in it. Raus is now the butt of every joke, raid, assassination, piss take that takes place in any game I run, wherever they are set :). I twitch at the mere mention of his name. YGMV but his head is used as a polo ball by the local high Llama clan in my Glorantha.

Of course I’m not the target audience, but come on, we have all helped this lovely world of Glorantha keep alive for thirty odd years we deserve some in depth write ups of new places to explore.

Holy Country, Holy Country! Pent, Pent, Pent! Downtown Glamour, Downtown Glamour…

Here’s a couple of things to ponder on.

Design Mechanism is a two-person company. One of us has a Day Job. We do a huge amount of work ourselves, but also need the help of outsiders. We also have non-Gloranthan projects we’re committed to, so our flexibility is somewhat confined. This is why I said, if anyone has an idea for a book they want to see and perhaps write (or even contribute something to), get in touch. It would be lovely – simply lovely – to have the resources to do all the work necessary to research, develop and publish a book on an entirely new region, but without involvement from the community, it’s going to be difficult to do.

So, if there’s an absence of willing community help, then we have to work within certain limits. Michael O’Brien came to us a while back and said that he wanted to revisit, revise and expand Sun County and Borderlands. Not ‘rehash it’, but give it a fundamental makeover. I think it’s great that one of RQ’s and Glorantha’s best writers is willing to come back to fold after a LONG hiatus and help us with the support we want to offer Glorantha. Sun County may not be an area you are especially interested in, but there is a wider audience out there.

Plus, for every person who cries Pent Pent Pent there another dozen crying Pamaltela Pamaltela Pamaltela. And another half dozen screaming for Holy Country and then another bakers’ dozen wanting Seshnela. We make choice: we piss someone else off. We can’t win, whatever we do.

    🙂

We’re starting with what we can deal with comfortably and well, folks. We’re making use of tried and trusted help. We have plans, already underway, for a book of original adventures situated in Prax. But given the constraints of the company, there’s only so much we can do with RQ Glorantha in these early days. As we grow, we hope to see more. But if people want to see a wider scope, then, I’m afraid, we’re going to need some help. Otherwise, we’ll take things at the pace we’re taking them, in the way we’re taking them, and for all the right reasons.

I’m just happy that two folks (with a bit of help from their friends) have been able to produce such high quality RuneQuest material, especially given the contrast of the long Dead Times that most of us remember. It will be even better to see any sort of new Gloranthan RQ material, and if it takes a while to produce I’m prepared to wait.

Seshnela? Bah humbug! The mob is at the door demanding that Luther Arkwright game in the next week or vague hints about “reprisals.”

Any way people can help out on that front, by the way?

You know what I think needs a book? The Kingdom of Ignorance. I got asked about it on the blog, and that was the first time I really had a peek at the Kralorela material. I’d love to have a go at expanding the stuff that’s described there.

Why put out a quick PDF conversions and NPCs for HQ/RQ/13thA for all the most loved RQ boxed sets ? Chuck in a few essays to harmonize with GtG (optional). Easy $10 and everyone moves on…….

Then we get groovy new islands and nations and pantheons and monsters and stuff and stuff etc

    Sorry…..

The Doomquest Kingdom of Ignorance thing (http://ixians.blogspot.com/2011/03/kingdom-of-ignorance-hex-less-crawl-for_28.html) is good. They talked about about getting it into Hearts in Glorantha, but I don’t know what happened with that.

Personally I’d love to see more maritime/coastal/seafaring environments &/or trader cultures highlighted in coming RQ books – as in the HQ books “Men of the Sea & Blood Over Gold: Trader Princes of Maniria

In other words, something not unlike RQ6 – but in Glorantha.

In that respect, thumbs up to The Desing Mechanism for having published a welcome small supplement for RQ6.

Ah – Well, clearly I’m rather new here. It seems my first 2 versions of the above post, with errors, didn’t get deleted the way I thought. Please just read the last version. Only one that makes sense.

I’ve wanted more on Holy Country since the late 1970’s. Something on the East Isles would be a delight. As Pamentella is so ignored, even a once over Pamentela book might be a delight.

As for older stuff, Prax was always interesting. As was the general neighborhood.

Well I am interested in a Holy Country gazetteer to compliment what I already have on Dragon Pass and Prax.

But what I really want to see is some Malkioni stuff, especially now the old medieval Malkioni are thrown out. I really want to get my head around how to portray the Malkioni as they are currently presented in the G2G. I’m kinda seeing them as early Byzantine Empire in flavour now, and i would love to see some regional books covering Seshnela, Ralios, Fronela, and the new take on the Trader Princes down on the New Coast. For once I would love to see a detailed portrayal on Handra, a Safestan City State, Sog City, The Castle Coast, Tanisor etc etc.

The G2G goes a long way at stimulating the mind with tidbits, but now I want to see it really detailed. I think using The West for a new direction is the way to go, as central Genertela is already detailed in great depth

But hey, whether its RQ (preferred), HQ, or just narrative content, I’m happy with any new Gloranthan release!
