Both use slings
Both have ‘thunder’ in their “modus operandi”, what gives?
I am drafting up a ceremony of young Orlanth Thunderer initiates going up into the mountains to ‘trap’ thunder in their first thunder stone (cf AH Gods of Glorantha, Orlanth – Special Runespell Create Thunderstone).
Does anyone know anything about the ‘thunder’delta of the eol’i? Do thunderstorms roll in from Valinds Glacier, will someone do a Heroquest and bring back proof their is six degrees of separation between them and Orlanth Thunderer (as will happen to Doburdan…)
My references are GOG and HQ’s Thunder Rebels.September 5, 2013 at 8:33 pm #5605
Umath was supposedly killed in the White Sea and so the Thunder Delta could be the result of the thunderstones found on the shore.September 5, 2013 at 9:36 pm #5608
The blood of storm gods will be scattered all over Glorantha, and flint thunderstones, the crystallized blood of storm gods, will be common in some areas. It’s no surprise that the contact for hiring the Thunder Delta slingers is called Mrs. Flint.
In terrestrial folklore Stone Age flint arrow heads were often thought to be the result of thunderbolts hitting the Earth.September 7, 2013 at 9:42 am #5662
I’ve never realised that connection – it makes sense that Umath’s blood was splattered all over the region.
If Orlanthi know about them then it would be a good HeroQuest to gain one of the Thunder Stones.
I wonder why the Hedkoranthi don’t make a military unit for the Hero Wars, in the same way as the Thunder Delta Slingers.September 20, 2013 at 2:38 pm #5853
Your players certainly can create one!
