Why isn’t this in higher quality?

Personally I would have liked vector based maps. With vector based maps, it could also have used the PDF layer feature to add/remove things like the hex grid, map markers and etc. Now, if the source maps are bitmap, it’s not feasible of course. But then they could have been in higher quality at least.

I really love how Posthuman Studios have done this with Eclipse Phase, where you can remove things from the PDF using layers, for example for easier printing.

You don’t really want a pdf where you can switch layers on or off, what you want is a clickable and somewhat zoomable map where you can do that, without respect to pages for print formats.

The atlas is merely a companion volume that allows you to locate things in the maps while browsing through the book or the pdf.

Vectorizing the maps is a huge task. I know that Moondesign does not have the manpower to do that, and it would take either volunteers (note the plural) or some serious payment to get this done from the existing bitmap layers.

Why are you telling me what I want? Layered PDF are awesome for us that like the digital editions in PDF. I really like when you can notice work has gone into the PDF versions too. Don’t get me wrong, I do love printed books too. But I prefer PDF as I can use them when working on adventures etc running a game.

Yet the Argan Argar Atlas PDF still costs as much as the Sartar Companion PDF.

Yeah, I wrote that in the first post already. If the maps are done in bitmap, I would just like them in higher quality as most maps in the Sartar Campaign Pack PDF for example. That said, the maps in AAA are well suited for vector format.

I told you what you want because a layered pdf is just a weak imitation of a map viewer with layer administration and clickable maps that give you information on whatever clickable feature you choose. And which you could add content to, like your campaign trail.

Basically, compare Google Earth to a layered pdf of say the US in vector format maps and you will see the difference in functionality.

Google Earth? A similar thing for Glorantha would be awesome.

You are wrong, and stop telling other people what they want.

It’s about getting the best out of the format the books are in, which is PDF and nothing else. A layered PDF where you could choose to hide the hexgrid (which I’m not a fan of) would have been awesome. And I believe the hexgrid is in fact it’s own layer in Photoshop if the maps are in bitmap, so it would be possible to use even if they where bitmaps.

If nothing else, I hope we can get two versions of the AAA PDF, one without the hexgrid.

I just wish I could zoom in.
